OUR STORY

A Family Affair
Seed Farm Shop is rooted in Rectory Farm, a 250-acre working arable farm in Worlington, near Newmarket, Suffolk. The Summers family has cared for this land since 1943, and today it is farmed by third-generation farmer Sam and his son Frank, with the support of Sam’s father, Allen. The farm produces potatoes and onions as its core crops, alongside cereals and the innovative energy crop miscanthus, grown for biomass and animal bedding.

Introducing... Seed
The idea for Seed came from Frank. Alongside working with his father on the farm, he has successfully run Summers Market Garden—his own plant-growing business—since 2019. Inspired by its success, Frank set out to transform an old agricultural building into a vibrant farm shop and nursery. A true family venture, Seed is run by Frank together with parents Sam and Lucie, and younger brother Arthur when he’s home from university.
The shop celebrates the best of local produce, offering a hand-picked range of food and drink from nearby suppliers. Customers can enjoy meat from both TFM Butchers and Meadow and Woodland Livestock, eggs from Manor Farm in the village, cakes from Serena’s Bakes and scones from Procopio’s Pantry in Bury St Edmunds. Adding a creative touch, Lucie—who is also a textile designer and maker—contributes a small collection of screen-printed homewares, crafted with eco-friendly inks.
